Starting in 2028, a Life Cycle Assessment<\/strong> (LCA)<\/strong> will become mandatory for new construction projects larger than 2,000 m\u00b2. In fact, two years later, in 2030, that obligation will apply to all new construction<\/strong> in Europe.What exactly will be mandatory? The reporting of the Global Warming Potential (GWP). <\/strong>That is a calculation of the total CO\u2082 emissions over the entire lifetime of your building: from material production to demolition. <\/p>\n\n

So what does that mean specifically for your real estate project?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n

As an owner or manager of non-residential property<\/strong>, you will have to deal with:<\/p>\n\n

\u2713 Stricter reporting requirements<\/strong> in permit applications\u2713 Higher expectations<\/strong> from financiers and governments\u2713 Impact on ESG targets, BREEAM scores and future returns<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

In other words, a life cycle analysis will soon no longer be a nice-to-have. <\/strong>Without it, your <\/strong>project more likely to result in delays, additional costs or even downtime<\/strong>. As a property owner or manager, you definitely want to avoid that. <\/p>\n\n

And what about Life Cycle Assessment in Flanders?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n

Although Flanders has not yet legislated the European deadlines, we are already in a transition phase here:<\/p>\n\n
